Any ideas how a pre-hung door is installed to a floating wall? Pretty sure I dont want a gap at the bottom of the frame nor a large space under the door.

Hey Jerry!

Yes so there's actually no real difference between installing a pre-hung door on a floating wall or a normally framed wall. I wish I had a good picture to share with you, but looking through I can't find any good examples.

Remember typically you will install your doors after drywall and flooring have been put in. This means you'll follow the standard instructions for installing a pre-hung door. There may be a small gap between the frame and the floor, but this won't differ from a standard installation and will all be covered up by your trim anyways.

Let me know if you have any other questions about hanging doors that I can answer and best of luck!

Lay down your bottom pt plate and fasten it to the concrete. Lay 2x4 spacers randomly on top of the plate. Lay another plate (or completed wall) on top of these spacers and drive a large anchor pin (5" or so) down through the voids between the spacers. Once your wall is built and fastened at the top, pull out the spacers. This allows for expansion of the concrete upward and downward (if you can believe that, I don't, but it's code). The bottom plate will float and push the pins up through the other plate, then allegedly settle back down.

I think it was pretty much same from the regular installation. As far as I concern your requirements will meet depends on the height of the door and your flooring option.

I know this was awhile ago but if you've got any pictures or advice from this process that would be awesome to share, thanks Jerry!
