Thank you so much for your guidance. We are finishing our basement in northern Colorado! My question is do we need to float a half wall that's interior? It is only 4 ft high and it seems impossible to stabilize it otherwise? Thank you greatly!

I have attached a picture for reference! We opened up the wall as it was non load bearing, and will be extending it out.

You're probably done with this half wall by now but I thought I'd chime in and see if you had any other questions or issues along the way.

For the half wall you should be fine securing that to the wall and leave it non-floating. You would have to check with an inspector to be 100% certain, but if you had heaving in that area I don't believe it would cause any issues.
